Kayali Vanilla 28 Layering Combinations
The one mainstream vanilla designed to be layered — and the combinations that use it properly.

Vanilla 28 is boozy vanilla — orchid, brown sugar and tonka, with a musk base that makes it unusually easy to build on. Kayali markets the whole line as layerable, and unlike most marketing claims, this one holds up.
It works in all three positions in a routine, which is rare. Underneath a nutty gourmand it adds warmth; over a musk oil it becomes the star; on its own it is complete.

Musk sits between the sugar and the perfume and stops the vanilla from reading like a bakery. This is the combination most people mean when they say a scent smells expensive.

The trail trick

Skin holds scent; hair releases it. A hair mist is what makes people notice a scent as you walk past rather than when they hug you.
Using it in each position
- 01
As the finish
Over musk oil and an unscented base. This is the "expensive vanilla" version and the one to start with.
- 02
As the middle layer
Under a pistachio or caramel gourmand. Vanilla 28 fills the gap between a nut note and the skin, which is exactly where most gourmands sound hollow.
- 03
As the base
One spray, then a lighter floral or citrus on top. Works, but only with something genuinely light — anything heavier just covers it.

Frequently asked
Yes — the entire Kayali range is built around layering, and Vanilla 28 is the most versatile piece of it.
White musk oil underneath, or a pistachio or caramel gourmand on top. Both share base notes with it.
On moisturised skin, most of a day. Over an oil layer it commonly outlasts a working day.
How we choose products
